Athletic Department Announces Two New Head Coaches for Next Year

Gonzaga Athletic Director Joe Reyda '85 recently announced two new head coaches for the 2021-2022 school year.

After almost 40 years as the Head Track and Field Coach at Gonzaga, Coach Alvin Maddox retired this spring. "Coach Maddox has touched so many lives over the past 40 years and he will be missed in the classroom and on the track," said Mr. Reyda.  "I am excited to announce that Coach Conrad Singh will be taking over as the Head Track and Field Coach. Conrad has worn many hats over the years as both football coach and member of the Gonzaga Marketing and Communications team, where his countless videos have captured so many great events over the years."  Coach Singh played football, basketball, and ran track in his time as a student on Eye Street.  He has been a member of the football coaching staff since 2008 and was an assistant coach this spring for the track and field team.  Said Reyda: "Coach Singh is following a legend but I know he will do great things with this program."

Jack Finch will take over the Gonzaga Water Polo program from Torey Ortmayer '11 who stepped down after leading the program for the past three years.  Coach Finch grew up in Menlo Park, California, where he played water polo for Menlo High School.  He then went on to the United States Naval Academy, where he played water polo for four years and has spent the past few years as an assistant  coach.  Coach Finch lives in Alexandria, Virginia, and works in DC.

Congratulations to both Coach Finch and Coach Singh!
