College Counseling Leads Summer Workshops for Rising Seniors

Over the course of the past two weeks, Gonzaga's College Counseling Office held two Summer Application Workshops for rising seniors.

During each workshop, which lasted two days, admissions officers from various colleges and universities around the country came to Eye Street to lead a series of discussions and exercises all related to the admissions process. In total, we welcomed 23 admissions officers to campus, and more than 150 students participated.

Students had the chance to take part in essay reviews, mock college interviews, discussions on responsible social media, and more. In addition, admissions officers led the students in mock admissions committees where they had the chance to review four fake applicants and decide two to accept, one to waitlist, and one to reject. "The idea is to show these students how subjective the college admissions process is, and give them a window into the decision-making process," said Director of College Counseling Patrick Gallagher.

Here are some nice photos from the workshops. Good luck to the Class of 2022 as they embark on this process!
