Myles Dread '18 Featured on Big Ten Network
Myles Dread '18, a former captain for Gonzaga Basketball, two-time WCAC Champion, and current player for Penn State University, was featured on the Big Ten Network's series The Journey this week. The six-minute feature explores Dread's love of poetry and includes a selection of his poem "What If" that he read at the ONYX Black History Month Celebration in 2018.
Myles talks about his journey as a poet, which began with his late grandfather's guidance and support as a young child and continued all the way through his time on Eye Street. Myles says about his grandfather, "He taught me today is the greatest day of your life, and tomorrow will be even better."
"You learn how deep he is through his poetry and how connected he becomes to the people he's around," says head varsity basketball coach Steve Turner.
