Gonzaga Hosts Press Conference with DC Mayor Muriel Bowser

On Good Friday, Father Planning hosted DC Mayor Muriel Bowser and a small gathering of faith leaders at Gonzaga to recognize the efforts of first responders, healthcare workers, and others at the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic. The event included a moment of silence, reflctions from faith leaders, and a press conference. During his remarks, Father Planning thanked the D.C. Department of Health for their care and attention to the Jesuit Community on Eye Street during his quarantine.

Father Planning also answered a question during the press conference about how learning is continuing on Eye Street through the pandemic. "While we know that our boys can't wait to get back here to Gonzaga, at least while they are home, their education is continuing, " he said. "They are keeping up and they will be able to complete each year that they are in now, and they are really not missing a step. It's been impressive to see our faculty, how they've come together and have been using these tools that are also used in the classroom, but transfer very well to teaching students at home."
