Elie '20, Petitbon '20, Matan '20, and Waller Earn Pigskin Awards

The Pigskin Club of Washington held its 80th Annual Awards Banquet on February 28 at Catholic University. The Pigskin Club was founded in 1938 with goals of promoting the benefits of sports and fair play and bringing together those associated with the game who share those goals. The club selects an All-Met Football Team, but also recognizes student-athletes and coaches of the year in a number of other sports. Additionally, academic achievement is recognized.

Three Gonzaga student-athletes earned awards for their excellent play on the field and also for their hard work in the classroom. Senior Ryan Elie was named the Soccer Player of the Year, while seniors Patrick Matan and Luke Petitbon were named to the All-Met Football Team. All three Eagles were also given the Scholar Athlete Award for meeting the required GPA. Coach Scott Waller was named the Soccer Coach of the Year.

Congratulations to all!
