Hockey Comes Back to Beat St. John's, Will Face DeMatha in WCAC Final

The V1 Hockey Eagles found themselves down 2-0 to St. John's on the road in the WCAC Semifinal on February 12 midway through the second period. But defensman Jack Mowrey's hard work in the Cadet zone paid off as he found the back of the net to get Gonzaga on the board. Although Gonzaga had a 21-14 shot advantage, the score remained 2-1 St. John's going into the third and final period.

The tide turned early in the third as Jack Martino '20 and Farrell Dinn '20 scored to give the Eagles their first lead of the game 3-2. Gonzaga got called for a tripping penalty with just over 13 minutes left in the game, but even with a man down, Dinn found a way to get his second goal of the game to make it 4-2. St. John's responded with a power play goal with 7 minutes left, but Gonzaga was able to hold on for the victory in the end.

The Eagles will take on DeMatha tonight, February 14 at 6:45 in the WCAC Championship at Laurel Ice Rink. Admission will be $10 at the gate.
