Cross Country Continues Winning Streak at DCSAA Championship

On Saturday, November 2, Gonzaga's Varsity Cross Country team cinched its fourth consecutive DCSAA Championship! The team won a tight race by two points over St. John’s. Cullen Capuano ‘20 finished 1st overall once again to take the win.

"Capuano showed Saturday why he has been an important part of the varsity squad, finishing as the top runner and leading the Purple Eagles to a fourth straight title," stated a Washington Post article about the meet. 

Patrick Donnelly ‘21 finished 3rd, Gavin McElhennon ‘20 9th, Luke Francese ‘20 18th, and Ethan Norman ‘22 rounded out the top 5 in 29th place. Quinn Kirchner ‘22 finished 31st, and Seamus O’Connor ‘22 was 38th.

The JV team finished behind SJC in second place, led by Jack Doolin ‘21 in 4th place, Reid Norton ‘21 in 8th, Abe Cutler ‘23 in 10th, Christian Baldwin ‘21 in 11th, and Liam Thompson ‘23 was our 5th man in 16th place.

Congratulations to Coach Ausema, the coaching staff, and all of the Eagle runners on another fantastic year so far! The team will be back in action on November 16 at the Jesuit Championships.
