Golf Beats Prep to Win Metros Championship!

The varsity golf Eagles won the 2019 Metros championship at PB Dye on Tuesday, May 14. The team shot a 366 to beat Georgetown Prep (383), Bullis (398), and DeMatha (440). Congratulations to Jimmy Taylor ‘19 on winning low medalist with a 68 and Evan Owan ‘19 on finishing with a 71.

The win was especially gratifiying as Georgetown Prep took home the title in 2018. An article in the Washington Post described Gonzaga and Prep as having "one of the area's most storied golf rivalries" dating back to 1934. Since 2005, the two schools have combined to win ten of the fifteen Metro championship trophies, with each program taking home five.

Congratulations to Head Coach Mike Hanagan '08 and to the team!

Hail Gonzaga!
