Wrestling Defeats Ireton, Falls to Good Counsel in Mid-Day Melee

Once each wrestling season, the Eye Street Grapplers have the chance to compete in the Carmody Center during the school day in what is known as the Mid-Day Melee.  This year, the entire student body was able to watch some of the action due to the adjustment to a Special Schedule academic day by the Headmaster's office. Gonzaga competed against Our Lady of Good Counsel and Bishop Ireton. The Eagles faced the Falcons during the first portion of the tri-meet. The atmosphere was awesome as the booster club led the boys in support of the Eagle wrestlers. "The Wave" was a new touch as the students tried to help Coach Yates' team earn the victory:

In the end, the team suffered its first loss of the season to Good Counsel 47-24, but defeated Ireton 46-22.

The Eagles have this weekend off, and will return to action Friday, January 18 in a quad meet vs Gilman, Episcopal, and Landon.

Go Gonzaga!
