Soccer Wins WCAC Quarterfinal in Dramatic Finish

The varsity soccer Eagles entered this week's WCAC playoffs as the #4 seed and hosted O'Connell on Tuesday, October 30 under the lights on Buchanan Field.  After playing to a scoreless tie through regulation and one overtime period, there was less than three minutes left in the second sudden death period.  With both teams anticipating penalty kicks if the game were to remain tied at the end of time, Luke Egge '19 found Will Thompson ‘21 who got the golden goal to lift Gonzaga to the win!

The team faced the #1 seed The Heights School and played them extremely tough in the WCAC Semifinal on Thursday, November 1.  The game remained 0-0 through regulation and into overtime once again.  This time, however, the Eagles could not get the golden goal and the game went to penalty kicks.  The Heights advanced 4-2.

The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday in the DCSAA Quarterfinal on Buchanan Field.  The opponent and time are TBD.

Go Gonzaga!
