Football Soars on Homecoming Night, Ready for WCAC Clash

The varsity football Eagles defeated the Archbishop Carroll Lions 48-12 on Friday, September 29 in front of an energetic Homecoming crowd under the lights.

Lucas Warfield '19 opened up the scoring with a 10 yard touchdown run, but the extra point was missed. The Lions impressively marched down the field to tie the game 6-6 midway through the first quarter.  It was all Eagles for the remainder of the first half with sophomore quarterback Caleb Williams running in for a touchdown from three yards out, and tossing three scores to three different Eagle receivers (Dean Engram '19, John Marshall '19, and Sam Sweeney '19).  Sophomore defensive back Jalen McMurray intercepted a pass and ran it back for another Eagle score to make it 42-6 at halftime. Junior runningback Malcolm Terry got in the endzone in the second half before the Lions scored late. Derrick Aikens '20 had a great game on special teams, while Engram had this incredible interception to go along with his offensive touchdown:
