Football Beats Bishop Sullivan in Virginia Beach

The varsity football Eagles look forward to at least one out-of-town trip each fall. In recent years the team has traveled to Viera, FL and to Philadelpia, PA. This year's trip was to Virginia Beach, VA to play the Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School Crusaders.  After departing from Eye Street on Thursday, August 30, the team stopped at William & Mary College for practice before proceeding to the team hotel at the beach. The next morning began with an informal prayer service for senior captain Dean Engram and his family, who are mourning the recent passing of Dean's sister, Bobbi. After the service and breakfast, the team held a walk-through on the sand.

The Eagles won big, 38-0, behind two defensive touchdowns. The first came midway thru the first quarter on a fumble recovery and return from senior captain Loic Sangwa, and the second came on the ensuing possesion on an interception return by Colin O'Connor '20.  Kye Holmes '21 helped lead the defensive shutout while Rodney Faulk '20 turned in a great performance on special teams. The offensive production was lead by junior offensive lineman Luke Petitbon.

Here are some great photos from the game:
