Eye Street Revisited: A Memorable Night

By Daniel P. Costello '72, Vice President for Major and Planned Gifts
I have to admit, l love this story. It takes place on the night when we celebrated the kick-off of the Greater Glory capital campaign, a magical night on Eye Street when generations of Gonzaga men came together to profess their appreciation for an educational experience that formed them for life.  One after another the alumni moved the crowd with their testimonies that resonated on the themes of roots, permanence, and adherence to core values. Then, with darkness descending over the campus, up to the microphone stepped the last alumnus, Larry Hartnett of the Class of 1931. I still get goosebumps thinking about that moment.

Click here to read an essay I wrote about that memorable night, which appeared in a Forever Gonzaga brochure that was printed in 2001.
