Myles Dread ’18 Named Gatorade D.C. Player of the Year

Congratulations to senior basketball player Myles Dread, who has been named the 2017-18 Gatorade District of Columbia Player of the Year! Myles is the 10th Gonzaga Eagle to earn the honor, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the court. Myles earned First Team All-WCAC honors, is an avid poet, and has participated in a number of service opportunities during his four years on Eye Street. Click here to read a blog post from the athletic site for Penn State, where Myles will play next year.

As a Gatorade Player of the Year, Myles will be able to select a national or local youth sports organization to receive a grant as part of the Gatorade Play It Forward program. Every Gatorade Player of the Year state winner receives a $1,000 grant to donate and will have the opportunity to enter for an additional $10,000 spotlight grant by writing a brief essay explaining why their selected organization deserves additional support.

“Myles has a tremendous work ethic which he brings to practice and games every day. He has done a great job of bringing our young guys along in showing them what it means to be a part of our program,” says Head Coach Steve Turner.

Congratulations Myles!
