Two Gonzaga Students Win Hackathon

On January 21, Andrew Farabow ’19 and Matt Walter ’18 won first place at HackBI 2018, a 24-hour hackathon hosted at Bishop Ireton High School, for their work on hand-writing recognition software. The winning team of Andrew, Matt, and Lily Tso (from West Springfield High School) competed against more than 130 participants from high schools across the region.

Hackathons are programming competitions in which each team comes up with and then develops an innovative program, app, or game. The winning trio will be reunited this summer—their first-place prize is a paid internship at Decipher Technology Studios in Alexandria, Virginia.
