Alumni Return to Gonzaga for Poetry Reading

A group of young alumni were on Eye Street on January 9 for an Alumni Poetry Reading. Organized by English teacher Joseph Ross and the Gonzaga Poets and Writers Club, the event featured seven young alumni reading their work.

Earlier in the day, several of the alumni attended the Creative Writing – Poetry class, an English elective taught by Mr. Ross. Kyle Newman-Smith ‘16, who’s now a student at Tufts, said he took the class during his senior year at Gonzaga and was excited to be able to come back and workshop his lastest poem with this year’s class. “It was really fun being on the other side,” he said. “The students gave me a lot of really helpful suggestions for how to improve my poem. I’m definitely going to take those to heart.”

Thanks to Micaiah Paige '17, Deion Williams '17, Walter Hill '16, Tre Jones ‘16, Kyle Newman-Smith '16, Joe Dahut '14, and John Hulede '13 for sharing their work with our students!
