Hockey Earns Top Ranking in Washington Post

The Washington Post released its Boys Ice Hockey Top 10 rankings on January 4, with Gonzaga as number one.

Though the team lost in the final of the Purple Puck tournament to St. Ignatius from Cincinnati 5-1, the players and coaches feel that the tournament's tough out-of-town competition will serve them well as they prepare for the rest of the season. “It gives us the chance to measure this area’s level of play against some really tough competition,” senior defenseman Chase Vallese told the Post. “It’s tough to lose to the same team twice, but that performance in the tournament gives us a good sense of how we need to start playing this year.”

The team’s next match-up is versus third-ranked Landon at Fort Dupont on Wednesday, January 10. Good luck to all the players and coaches!
