    Local Service begins

    Gonzaga’s urban location affords us many opportunities to serve those who are poor, hungry, or physically or mentally challenged.  Click here to learn more about these programs.  Sign up forms for the various service opportunities are located in the Campus Ministry Office.
  • Hockey Player Try-Out Meeting

    There will be a Hockey tryout meeting on THURSDAYSEPTEMBER 6th at 7:15 AM in Cleary Lecture Hall. All players/students interested in trying out for hockey should attend this meeting. Coach Gerdano will be going over information regarding the upcoming season, Captain Skates, and after school workouts. 
     
    The first Captain Skate will be held ThursdaySeptember 13th from 4:15-5:20 PM at Ft. Dupont Ice Arena.  Drills and scrimmages will be led by the V1 Captains. Bus transportation will be provided to and from the rink. 
     
    Players or students should contact Coach Gerdano if they have any questions.

    Members of Gonzaga’s retreat team will be holding four Spirit Days when members of the freshman class can meet and recreate with some of their new classmates as well as some very enthusiastic upperclassmen. 

    Freshman without an extracurricular obligation can remain on campus from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm for an hour of fun and receive a warmer welcome still to the Eye Street community.  The student leaders will conclude the hour with a brief reflection and prayer. Please encourage your son to make the most of these occasions by fostering his school spirit and that of his classmates.
  • Back-to-School Night

    Ruesch Cantwell Classrooms
    Back-to-school night in the fall offers new and returning parents alike the opportunity to meet their sons' teachers and to experience firsthand the environment and objectives of the classroom. 

    -First period begins at 6:45pm. There is no program before 1st period this year.
    -Refreshments will be served beginning at 6:15pm in the Cafeteria and will be available during your son’s “lunch” and/or “free” periods.
    -A copy of your son’s schedule can be viewed via the Parent Resource Board on Gonzaga’s website. Simply click on the NetCommunity icon. Please take the time to discuss with your son the most efficient route around campus, to and from his different classes.
    -Please do not park in the alley behind the school or on the sidewalks. You will be ticketed. Please use the parking garage, street parking, or commercial lots.
    -Your son’s counselor will be available to talk with you in the Collins Rotunda, and the college counselors will be holding brief sessions in Cantwell’s Cleary Lecture Hall (room 222) for senior parents who have a free period and would like to discuss the college application process.
    -Bells will sound to let you know when to move to the next class.

    Ignatian Reflection & Prayer Group

    The Ignatian Reflection and Prayer Group consists of Gonzaga moms and female guardians who gather monthly to explore the Ignatian spirituality at the heart of their sons’ education, and reflect on how to put it into practice in their own lives.
    They seek to deepen their faith by reading and discussing relevant essays and books, participating in Masses and retreats, and participating in guided reflections combined with a variety of Ignatian forms of prayer.

  • Freshman Crew Begins

    Erg Room, Basement of Forte Hall
    THE FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE WILL BE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7TH, AT GONZAGA FROM 1:45 to 3:45 PM.  From then on Purple Squad goes to the Boathouse on Monday and Wednesday. White Squad goes to the boathouse (located at 1900 M Street SE, Wash DC) on Tuesday and Thursday.

    The yellow school bus will leave from Eye Street and New Jersey Avenue at 3:00 PM and will proceed directly to the boathouse.  It will leave leave the boathouse at approximately 5:30 to 5:45 PM and will stop at the Navy Yard Metro, Union Station Metro and then back at Gonzaga.  Coach Tom will ride the bus the first couple days until you get the hang of it.  You should come to practice each day with clothes to train in, a water bottle, sunglasses and a hat.  Buy a really CHEAP pair of sunglasses as they often end up in the river.

    Alumni Association meetings give Gonzaga alumni the chance to hear up-to-the-minute information about what's going on at Gonzaga, from club activities to sporting events, and all Alumni Association events. We begin with fellowship and dinner at 6:00 pm and at 6:30 pm the meeting is called to order. Meetings typically last an hour and a half depending upon attendance and agenda items to be discussed. The meetings are open to all alumni of Gonzaga.

    Please join Gonzaga Eagles Wings on Eye Street for Mass in Our Lady's Chapel and a light breakfast in the Arrupe Commons.  Mass will be celebrated by Gonzaga Religion teacher Fr. Jerry O'Connor, SJ.

    Gonzaga's soccer program has the honor of hosting the 21st Jesuit Soccer Classic this weekend.  The Classic gives all student-athletes, coaches, and families an opportunity to come together, play four matches and participate in Mass and meals.  Gonzaga families get to know these families and communities very well given that the host school's families host all the players involved.  This year, as a program, we will be hosting 75 student-athletes.

    Due to several events going on at Gonzaga today, all athletic event parking should be in the GPO Lot or on the street. There will be no access to the parking garage or tennis courts for athletes, parents or visitors coming to the soccer or football games. Please use Metro if possible.

    Homcoming Dance

    Gonzaga's Homecoming Dance is this Saturday night from 7:30-11:00pm, sponsored by the Student Government Association.  
     
    Sophomores and Juniors are expected in the gym before 8:00pm and Seniors are expected by 8:30pm, at which point doors close.  There is no exit before 10:30.  
     
    Dance concludes officially at 11:00pm and all students are expected off-campus by 11:15pm.  
     
    After registering via a shared sign-up form, students must purchase tickets between Tuesday (10/25) and Friday (10/28) in Student Services. Cost is $20 per ticket.
