    33rd Annual Mother-Son Mass & Celebration

    St. Aloysius Church
TO: Gonzaga Mom's who have registered for the Mother-Son Celebration
FROM: Mother & Son Committee Chairs

Here are some tips and reminders you may want to know before you go:
    1. Parking:  Parking will be available in the garage and on the tennis courts on a first-come basis.  Please carpool if you can.
    2. Schedule of events: Mass begins at St. Aloysius at 10:00 a.m.  When Mass concludes, guests will proceed immediately to the Carmody Center and take their seats for the luncheon.  The lunch is scheduled to begin promptly with a blessing by Fr. Planning.  The program will begin shortly thereafter and should conclude by12:45 pm.
    3. Seating:  We’re trying something new this year to make maximum use of our space.
    • There will be open seating in color-coded “zones” for freshmen, sophomore and junior sons and their mothers.  Check your program at the event for your appropriate color.  If you’d like to sit with friends, please find them before you enter the Carmody Center to expedite our seating process.  Please don’t hold seats open!  This may make it difficult for others to find open seats.  We encourage you to be welcoming toward anyone who approaches your table, and to use the lunch as an opportunity to get to know other mothers who you may not have met before.  Thanks for your cooperation!
    • Seniors have assigned seats.  Senior mothers only, please check this list for your seating assignment and make a note of your table number.
    • Mothers who are attending with two or more sons:  Please sit together with your sons in the zone designated for your oldest son.
    1. Food: This year our lunch will be served family-style, in serving bowls that guests can pass and share.  Moms, please provide assistance if your son needs guidance in determining an appropriate portion size. (Yes, we’ve all been there.) We want to make sure everyone has a satisfying lunch while also eliminating as much food waste as possible. Our catering budget does not permit us to offer refills of serving bowls.
    2. Mother-son portraits: Stone Photography will have three photo booths available for your portrait photos in the Upper Commons, the Lower Commons, and the area outside the chapel.  Look for the shortest line!  Photos will begin at 9:15 a.m.and continue after the luncheon concludes until everyone who wants a picture gets one.
    3. Bookstore:  The Gonzaga Bookstore will be open at 9:00 a.m. and will remain open during and after the event.
    4. Attire:  Coat and tie for boys; Sunday church attire for women.
    5. The collection: The collection at Mass will be donated to the Washington School for Girls.  Many of you made advance donations via our website.  We thank you, and there is no need to make an additional contribution at Mass.
If you have additional questions, please feel free to email our co-chairs at MotherSon@GonzagaMothers.org.  They will do their best to get back to you promptly. If your question is in regard to registering additional guests, please know that this event is completely sold out.  Thanks for your understanding.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

    Senior Legacy Day

  • Senior Parent Night "Letting Go"

    Cafeteria
Parents of current Gonzaga seniors are invited to College Counseling's "Letting Go" program.  The program will address the transitional issues that will arise over the next several months as your son prepares to depart for college. This meeting is especially helpful for parents who are going through this process for the first time (of course, all parents are welcome). The format of the evening will be a workshop designed to help foster the process of separation and letting go. We also hope the workshop will help to reduce anxiety and increase communication between you and your son.
