Nine Eagles Earn All-Met Honors, Ausema Named Coach of the Year

Congratulations to our nine fall student-athletes who were named to Washington Post All-Met teams on December 12, 2017.  Also, congratulations to head cross country coach, John Ausema, for being named Coach of the Year!  Here is the complete list:

Cross Country

Coach of the Year: John Ausema
  • The Washington Post wrote, “Ausema, who has guided the Eagles since 2007, steered Gonzaga to its fifth Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship and its second D.C. state title under his reign with one of his top runners out injured. A science teacher at the Northwest Washington Jesuit school, Ausema had five runners – Gavin McElhennon, Cullen Capuano, David Giannini, John Travis and Daniel Roginski — place 11th or better for 28 points at the WCAC championship.”

  • The Washington Post wrote, “Indiana commit provided solid foundation for a freshman quarterback and led the Eagles to the WCAC final.”
