The NOC sets up every computer that is
used throughout the school. We make sure that software is “patched”
to the latest service packs and works in conjunction with all
necessary software that must be installed on all school computers.
The NOC also maintains the record for all license agreements of
software that is installed on all school computers. The school
computers are meant to be used for work related functions. These
computers are not your personal machines.
It is for these reasons the NOC prohibits
the installation of personal software on any school.
If an academic department wants software
that is specific for that department, it must use department funds
for the purchase of that software.
When the software does arrive, the NOC
asks that someone from the Department makes an appointment with the
NOC to install and test the software in a test environment before it
is deployed on the school computers.
Any school related software that must be
installed on a computer must be given to the NOC staff along with a
copy of the license agreement for the software prior to
installation.
The NOC is available everyday throughout
the summer to install and test new software. Do not come to school
the week of faculty orientation and expect the NOC to install your
software. The NOC will install and test new software for faculty
members throughout the summer months but not the week of faculty
orientations, the first week of October, Christmas break and
Easter/Spring break.
