From the Desk of the President

"The Jesuit Conference of the United States is recommending that donations to assist relief efforts for those impacted by the flooding in Pakistan be made through Catholic Relief Services (CRS),www.crs.org.

The Jesuit presence in Pakistan is limited to one community with very few Jesuits. The Jesuit Refugee Service does not have a presence in Pakistan and does not usually engage in immediate relief efforts. Therefore we are recommending that donations be made to CRS, which has a long-standing presence in Pakistan and is assisting those displaced by the flooding.

Our prayers remain with the people of Pakistan as they struggle through this difficult time."

From Jude Boyle '92

I am writing to encourage your participation in "9/11 Heroes Run" in Annapolis, MD on Sunday, September 12, 2010.

The run honors the memory of Marine Captain Travis Manion.  Travis went to the Academy with my brother Ish and served with both Ish and my other brother Dan in Iraq.  I would encourage everyone to take just a minute and read the Posthumous Silver Star citation for Travis, a true American hero.

If you are inclined to run, this will be a great eventFor full details and to register, click here

As an Annapolis graduate, Travis' parents are very personally interested and hopeful for a good turn-out for this race.  Obviously I can not speak on (or fully understand) their loss, but on occasions where I have met the Manions, I know they take great pride in the positive impact and legacy of their hero son.

I REALLY appreciate you considering. Please forward to anyone you think may be interested.

Semper Fi,
Jude
